Breath Practice #2: Micro cosmic orbit

This is a powerful and simple breath practice you can do to help circulate energy and breath and awaken more sensation, movement, and pleasure.

The Microcosmic Orbit is the primary bioelectric circuit along which life/sex energy runs in your body. Consciously circulating energy around the Microcosmic Orbit can help to free up blockages or stagnant energy.

With regular practice, the Microcosmic Orbit will enter into your muscle memory and you won't have to think so hard to keep it going. It might even surprise you, entering into your masturbation or sex life.

Here is how to do it:

  • Begin by standing or sitting comfortably with your spine straight - see that you are supported in anyway you need.
  • Place your awareness on your perineum or tailbone. Breathe in with an audible, full breath, drawing energy up your spine and neck, over the top of your head, and finally down your forehead to the roof of your mouth.
  • Option to connect the tip of your tongue on the roof your mouth. This connects the back and front channels
  • Exhale, letting the energy trickle down the front of your body over your belly, genitals, and back to your perineum or tailbone.
  • Repeat 5-15 rounds as you are able.
  • Option to add gentle movement: a gentle squeeze of your pelvic floor as you inhale.

If you are a visual person and it helps, imagine that you have a ball at the tail bone. As you breathe in, imagine the ball rising from the tail bone to the top of the head, and then breathe out and imagine the ball rolling down the front of the body. You might also try imagining a color moving through your Orbit.

Stay gentle by not pushing on your breath, going at your own pace - if at any point you feel overwhelmed or anxious, return to a normal breath pattern.
