Gagging & the Emotional & Spiritual Benefits of Deep Throating

Before you say 'no!' to gagging - I'd like to turn you on to the nervous system benefits of the gag reflex. And the possible spiritual and emotional benefits of deep throating ;)

Those who intuitively like to be gagged, might also be intuiting ways to self-soothe. Or if you ever felt the altered state effect of deep throating, you might also have indirectly stimulated your parasympathetic nervous system. In short, the gag reflex is directly tied to your vagus nerve and thus your fight/flight/freeze/appease response. How soft/relaxed your throat is connected to how relaxed your nervous system is. It's like another sphincter in your body that opens and closes depending on how safe and relaxed it feels.

If you want to geek out some more, check out the video below.

Meanwhile, if you feel up for it. I invite you to try your hand (quite literally) at gagging. Doing it yourself can be a great way to gauge when you need to stop and how far to go. You are completely in charge. Remember there is always the possibility of vomit ;)

You can use a finger or a Popsicle stick. Or even a dildo if you so choose.

Go slow. As soon as you feel your gag reflex, slowly pull your finger or dildo out. Notice what you notice. Try it several times as feels okay enough for you.

Reflections:

What can you learn about yourself from your gag reflex?

How does it feel in your body/nervous system/mind/heart after trying to gag?

What fears come up when you consider or when you try gagging?
