Shake It Up
Shaking is a somatic tool and an inherent part of our survival system. We have the power to shake when we are scared or cold, a way of releasing stress in the body or keeping our extremities warm. Animals, like us, are similar: If a cat falls from a tree, the first thing it does after landing is shake.
As humans, we would be shaking a lot more if it weren't for mental health oppression that has convinced us that shaking means something is 'wrong' with us.
Shaking can be one of the best tools to get out of your head and into your body.
The invitation for this prompt is to take 5-10 minutes (minimum) to shake your body. Feel free to do it longer if you like. You can do it standing or laying down with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Below is a playlist of songs to shake to. Pick a song(s) to shake to and let your body surprise you. Build energy, breathe, shake parts that rarely move: you ears, your knees, your armpits, your tongue. Then, see what is it like to follow your pleasure? What is your solo sex or pleasure experience like after waking up your body with shaking?
Alternatively: Try starting your go-to masturbation practice and add in some shaking somewhere in the middle or even at the end. How does it influence your pleasure?
