Breath Work Practice #1 Energy Orgasms
Breath & Energy Orgasms
"Breath is the hottest sex toy I know" - Barbara Carrellas, author of Urban Tantra
This is a simple but powerful practice of breathing from your root to your crown with continuous deep breaths. It can help move energy through the body and unblock any stagnant or stuck parts. It can also lead to crygasms, gigglegasms, angergasms, blissgasms, and more. You can adapt the practice for solo or partnered sex, or as a stand alone pleasure practice. Adding pelvic rolls really enhances the practice of moving 'sexual' energy throughout the body. The audio recording below will take you through the practice with some music and breath accompaniment.
One name for a version of this practice is Firebreath Orgasm. This name was given by Harley Swiftdeer, a Cherokee medicine man, activist and teacher. Variations of this practice exists in many cultures and traditions, including Tantra, Tao, and therapists such as Wilhelm Reich. I learned this practice from Caffyn Jesse, an intimacy coach and sex educator who taught me to "breathe the body awake." Caffyn's version includes the pelvic tilts.
You may want to try this practice a few times to feel its effect. You might notice a lot of emotion or sensation as you do it. Your hands might tighten or feel tingly. This is completely normal and if it feels too much, try slowing your breath down. Alternatively, if you do it and it doesn't feel like much is happening, try quickening your breath. Breathwork is incredibly unique and specific to you - it can teach you a lot about where you are. We will be practicing a few different breathwork techniques over the course of our time together. Please take care of yourself and pause if/when you need to.
Self Guided:
If you'd prefer to try it at your own pace you may start by lying down and deep breathing from your root, rolling your pelvis at the pace of your breath. You can breathe as fast or as slow as you like, but as you are able, keep it continuous. You may experiment with quickening the breath or 'building the fire'. Move the breath slowly, pausing for a 1-2 minutes at each place: from the root to your low belly, from your low belly to your torso, from your torso to your heart, from your heart to your throat, from your throat to your third eye, and from your third eye to your crown.
Enjoy making sounds, movements, touching, shaking, emoting as you move along.
