Pelvic Massage
Pelvic massage is one of the best ways to experience touch that is not necessarily sexual and is not medical. It is a great way to learn your anatomy and become empowered to voice your desires and boundaries. Similar to anal play, these steps: Anatomy -> Awareness -> Arousal can be helpful in navigating the unknown, the uncomfortable, and even the numb.
Below is a video that shows all the big and little muscles of the pelvis. There is also a picture of the bones of the pelvis. I invite you to take some time to get acquainted with all of these bones, muscles and tissues. But also if you feel overwhelmed, just take a peak and trust you'll learn what you need. You don't need to learn all the fancy names ;)
To begin: Start with some gentle movement and stretching. You can do some cat/cow stretching and add in some big circles with the hips. You can even do some squats and hold the squat for 30 seconds to a minute with some deep breaths. Use your intuition, no wrong way to move here.
You might begin by either laying down with some pillows to prop you up or sitting up with your legs tented in front of you. Start by using your hands to trace your pelvic bones. You might roll around to feel them or involve some gentle movement.
Then you might gather a little lube or oil (make sure its safe for internal work such as coconut oil) in your hands. See if you can start to make contact with the large muscles of your pelvis through your skin - be gentle at first. Use the warmth of your hands to give light massage or holding to these muscles. Then continue to slowly warm up the smaller muscles, feeling them through the skin and tissues - notice their density, their elasticity, their texture. You can trace these muscles all around to your anus and back. You can also work internally, but go slowly and air on the side of less - sometimes simply holding a muscle is enough.
Feel how they respond to your touch. Perhaps see how they want to be touched. Notice any pain, numbness, pleasure.
Also notice your mind, heart, and spiritual body throughout.
These images come from one of my teachers, Prairie Wolfe. They work a lot of with pelvic floor dysfunction hence you'll see some notes about possible issues you might encounter. Again, take what makes sense, leave what doesn't.
