Foot Play

Did you know your feet are inextricably connected to your pelvis? Starting to make connection to our feet can deepen and enhance our level of awareness and sensation in our pelvis.

If you are having trouble connecting to your genitals during sex or self-pleasure, try noticing and wiggling your feet. You can massage or stretch them.

Below are some ways to further explore pleasure with your feet.

Foot massage with a ball - Get yourself a tennis or lacrosse ball. It can also be some other ball or even a rolling pin or bottle shaped instrument. Stand and start with the ball under one foot. Start towards your heel and with a soft bent knee, press your weight down on the ball. Hold for a breath or two and then move the ball slowly down your foot, pausing to breathe every few inches or so. End with your toes wrapped around the ball. Then switch feet.

Sensation play with feet - Get yourself a feather, a couple of ice cubes, something sharp (a fork will do), and something textured like a strand of pearls or a brush. Give yourself some time to explore these sensations on just your feet. Make sure the rest of your body is comfortable and relaxed. You can even try lying down and playing with your feet in the air or resting on a wall or pillows.

Legs up the wall - A very popular yoga pose that is great to rebalance, fight fatigue, or boost your immune system. Also a great place to give your feet a rest. Do this pose at a wall with a blanket and a mat underneath you. Let your legs hang out for up to 10 minutes if it feels good. Make it extra cushy by belting your legs together at the widest part of your thighs and place an eye pillow over your face. Before you cover your eyes, check out your feet and send them some appreciation.
